Adrian opened his mouth, but no sound came out.
Vivian pointed at me, trembling. “She set us up!”
“No,” I said. “You walked in smiling.”
Then I stepped down from the altar, reached Vivian, and gently removed my mother’s pearl bracelet from her wrist.
“This belonged to a woman who married for love,” I said. “You don’t get to wear it.”
